First and foremost, Peggy Dwyer is a neighbor and a committed member of your Hudson Valley community. She and her seven siblings grew up in Cornwall, NY, the idyllic town her parents fell in love with when saving up to move from Brooklyn to the suburbs.
After graduating Cornwall Central High School, Dwyer went on to study Marketing and Management at Niagara University in Niagara Falls, NY. Her degree led her to New York City where she spent 15 years at Smith Barney in the company’s Private Client Division.
In 1997, she and her husband Roger moved back to her hometown to raise their two daughters. At this time, Dwyer began to learn the insurance business from local agents who represented specific carriers. That’s when it hit her: even when they sought similar coverage, no two clients had the same profile. As such, the carrier that was best for client A wasn’t always best for client B. Customers needed a trusted local agent with access to all the major national carriers to shop on their behalf and provide unbiased council on who to go with.
On this insight, Dwyer founded the JMD Insurance Agency in 2006. Since then, the company has experienced organic growth each year based on client referrals and word of mouth.
Outside of the agency, Dwyer is passionate about community and family. After a full day at the office, she can often be found hosting pro bono coaching sessions to help local residents make sound financial choices while avoiding common pitfalls. As a daughter, sibling, wife, aunt and mother, her family keeps her busy, grateful and inspired, especially her two daughters, Jessica and Maddy.
